Nov. 5th, 2024 10:14 pmLike I dunno the idea of trends is kinda crazy, or like joke accounts specific to a specific niche of people and it’s like a community through this kinda joke online thing but obviously only a few people know about this joke. But this is like one of those trends, except it’s in person, like the people following these accounts and these trends are actually meeting up and seeing each other in person, at these events. So it’s kinda crazy, I don’t know if I’m saying this right but kinda like we’re part of this weird community. Not saying I like any of the kind of people who go to these things, like it’s not a community I really care about being involved in, but it is a community nonetheless, according to definition. And it’s crazy that it’s all set up by kids like our age, and we all have this secret thing in common that we can make happen, and the police or any other adults are not gonna know and they’re not gonna be expected a massive crowd of teenagers getting drunk on the beach on a random weekend, and coz we’re not adults we’re not really gonna care so much if this gathering or something is disruptive or kinda unlicensed.
And I dunno we’re all connected somehow through this, it makes me realise that there’s clones of the same people everywhere you go. And also that you can’t just put a bunch of kids in a dead town and expect them to not find each. Like people long for community and Cside and vibeedin and fiesta.edin and other of those events, they’re all just made by people striving to make connections, and people go because they want to see people, they have a fear of missing out and need for a community. Like that’s genuinely all it is. Everyone needs community, even those annoying Edinburgh teenagers.
